About Maddie

Our senior Mastiff Maddie went into a long-term foster home about two months ago in hopes that she could live out her time with this wonderful family in northern Connecticut. They fell in love with Maddie instantly and were so hopeful that she would be comfortable living with their two cats and their little pit-bull rescue. The first few weeks were absolutely fine, but once Maddie got her grounding and felt secure there, she took over and her prey drive kicked in and it hasn't been the best situation for everybody involved- What we have learned is that Maddie will indeed chase cats and possibly even hurt them- We Also learned that Maddie would rather play with and spend her time with humans rather than another dog- she can be tolerant to a certain extent, but then can suddenly snap- she could live with a very mellow dog that avoids her, but definitely not one that wants to incite play -she just isn't interested and will let the dog know. We are truly grateful for the time that they had Maddie, but now that we have more information, she can find her forever home where she can be your one and only and be spoiled. This dog is extremely loyal and will stay by your side and keep you company all day long-She is very gentle and just an old lady that is losing a bit of her hearing and has chronic dry eye so she does require drops each day and anti-inflammatories to keep her moving a little bit better. Maddy also has a benign cyst on her neck that does not cause her any trouble but it is evident to the eye specialist advised to just leave it alone and it is not a detriment to her in anyway.
