About Douglas

Douglas is a sweet six year old Catahoula. She has been in my care since an old roommate started doing drugs after her rescued her. Her original owner used her for breeding/hunting and the extent of her trauma is unknown. She has a visible rib cage injury and is extremely hesitant of most people. It look a long time to get Douglas to trust me and to engage in common dog actives. She takes well to an alpha dog and learns quickly. She is extremely dependent on her guardians and has very bad anxiety. I did not intend to end up with her but felt it my duty to care for her after both of her past guardians mistreated her. I am a full time student and worker and feel like I am doing her a disservice by keeping her. She needs more love than I have time for. She is house trained, not aggressive or disobedient. It is hard to train her due to her past with abuse but she knows basic commands and is highly intelligent. Once she learned what a bed and a couch were they became her safe place. She loves to cuddle! Douglas would do best with someone that has time to spend with her and someone that is home a lot.
