About Shay

SUPER FRIENDLY -SMART- AFFECTIONATE -LOYAL Last month we had some very unfortunate news, the passing of Shay's Adopter. They were so bonded even after only 1 month of adoption that we are sure Shay has taken this hard... Luckily his daughter stepped in to take her temporarily, but is not able to stay there much longer due to a conflict with one of her dogs (her little bossy terrier dog doesn't like Shay) and coupled with the fact that she wasn't in the market for a large dog. She kindly offered to give Shay a place to land for the past few weeks and has been taking care of her ongoing skin issues which are getting better and better each day with medication and prescription food that has been supplied by the rescue. We are looking for a new foster, or better yet, and Adopter for Shay. She is a middle-aged gal (6/7) with a good amount of energy she loves going for walks or running around the yard and entertains herself wonderfully she loves to be outdoors. She is nicely behaved in the home crate trained or can be left when you go out with no issues. She does get along with other dogs as long as they are respectful to her and could easily live with another well mannered dog. We do not recommend a home with cats or small animals as she does have a bit of a prey drive. She likes to try to chase squirrels but gives up quickly) She is an absolutely sweet and loyal dog that would love to snuggle on the couch or even sleep with you in the bed as she did with her prior owner. He absolutely adored her and enjoyed her company every single day. She is a very sweet dog that has had quite a year after being found as a stray in New York City with hardly any fur on her body and secondary infections that were pretty resistant to antibiotics. We have gotten her skin back into good shape and the only requirement for her would be to stay on a prescription diet and prescription treats.
