About Elsie

My patient is actively dying from cancer. He lives alone with Elsie. She is an 11yo Dutch Shepherd. His family is not interested in keeping her and will send her to the shelter when he passes. She is spayed, I doubt she has seen a vet in the last year. She has some stiffness in her back and hips, but otherwise gets around well. She appears to see well and definitely hears well. She's got a good appetite and is a little overweight. I was told she is not good with other dogs, but that is not confirmed, it is unknown how she would be around cats or kids. She's friendly with people. While I've been caring for Frank, people will just walk in the house and while she is alert to their entry, she doesn't bark or growl. She comes up politely and sniffs them out. She loves butt scratches and wags her tail when you talk to her. Mostly, she just sleeps when I am at his house. She has been Frank's only companion throughout his illness and I would hate to see her spend her last years in a shelter or be put down because she isn't easily adopted.
