About Spirit

I don't know how to even begin telling you about Spirit, but I will try. She is one of the Spring Branch survivors. From what the rescuers told me she was very close to death when rescued. Colorless and hairless, she looked more like a turkey carcass than a dog. 7 years young, she has slowly but surely gained weight and beautiful color and hair! She has gone from 25 pounds to 46 pounds and is still gaining. She sleeps through the night, is potty trained, knows how to sit and is pretty quiet so far. I do not crate her as she was imprisoned in a crate while almost losing her life. Spirit is still learning to be a dog. She has just begun to bark a few times. She has played with a toy a few times. She has played with our tiny Chi just a little. She is still a little weak but doesn't seem to be in any pain or have any lingering joint issues. She is very food motivated but you can take her food or toy away without issue. She is not a completely subservient dog, which is surprising after all she has gone through. She seems interested in our barn cats so I don't think a home with cats would be the best. She has eagerly greeted all humans. Spirit deserves complete love and adoration from whomever adopts her. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body and is still developing her personality. That she has survived is a miracle.
