About Butch

Young male lab mix, about 4yrs. Arrived here as a stray thus no known history. He is now neutered, vaccinated for rabies, distemper and kennel cough. Tested negative for heartworm, and now on preventative. Did show a positive for lyme exposure(not clinical) and was treated with doxycycline for 30 days. Currently on bravecto for flea/tick control. This fella is a great dog, clean, obedient and interactive. No known exposure to any kids. small animal prey-drive high, ruling out living with cats. He is tolerant of dogs leaning to females but gets anxious when they get in his space . Not food or toy protective with people, but dogs are another issue. He has a great attitude, and would be great one on one with someone, although the possibility of him in just the right family with another dog is a potential. A strong dog that needs leash walking skills improved upon, he does settle down after walking a bit. he loves to play fetch/ball and does actually bring the ball back to you. He is a smart fellow and would likely be quite the learner. This brief is being updated May 2020. Between initial time here and recent coronavirus situation, he is now pushing 10 months here here. We are an animal hospital that contracts with local townships to hold stray dogs,and then make them available for adoption. It has been his misfortune to be caught up in a lull regarding adoptions, with no one expressing an interest. Great dog, great companion, clean. Please ask to meet him.
