About Gypsy

BABY ELEPHANT POTCAKE, Gypsy - available for adoption �%9D%A4��%8F��%90%BE������� Gypsy is one of the Bahamian Potcakes (we think she's half pit half mastiff) we have brought back from Abaco, Bahamas. Gypsy's owner was left no choice but to evacuate the island post-Dorian and like many Abaconians, had to leave their dog behind. Shockingly enough, the Pit Bull breed is illegal in the Bahamas and we've been finding more and more abandoned, extremely submissive Pit Bulls all over the island. They are used as guard dogs for properties solely for their appearance, many times spending their life connected to a short-chain. With some of the submissive and sweet Pit Bulls we've come across, much like Gypsy, they have old scars on their faces and ears which could have been from being used as a bait dog in fighting rings. No matter what Gypsy's history, her owner surrendered her through their neighbor who was watching after Gypsy but could not care for her. Gypsy is a true gentle soul with playful energy once she starts to come out of her shell. It's clear Gypsy did not get to see much as she is timid and slightly fearful of experiencing new places. From surviving a hurricane, loosing her human, flying on an airplane, coming to America and now road tripping cross country, we are truly shocked at how amazing she is doing. She is a true road trooper: enjoys looking out the window, exploring grassy knolls at rest areas and is a super eater, pooper and perfect hotel guest. She gets along great with other dogs but is a little shy upon first meeting them. We believe she is about 2 years old, loves to cuddle and is eager for affection. Gypsy is looking for a hooman with patience as she will still need some time to transition, gain trust and feel safe in her new home environment.
