About Wilbur

Adoption Fee: $175
Jack Russell
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Wilbur is a sweet, kind-hearted and affectionate 12+ year old, 15 pound, male Jack Russell in need of a family to spend his golden years with. This beautiful boy was found as a stray and ended up at Chicago's Animal Care and Control. We do not know much about his past but it appears he hasn't had such an easy life was in rough shape when he was found. He was getting very depressed at the loud chaotic open-intake shelter he was at and he was starting to shut down and lose hope. A Pal's Place volunteer spotted this little fellow and could see the heartbreak in his eyes, at that moment, we knew we had to bring him into our rescue and find him a home that will love and cherish him as he deserves. Wilbur is now in a loving and nurturing foster home but he'd really love to find his forever home soon. He is well-behaved, low-maintenance little dude that doesn't need much. Just some love and attention and a nice warm bed to cuddle in. Wilbur is being fostered with multiple other dogs and a cat and gets along well with everyone. Shortly after his rescue, it was determined he had bladder stones and was placed on a prescription diet. The diet should resolve the stones over time and they should cause no further complications. He will need to remain on this prescription diet for the remainder of his life to prevent more stones from forming. He also has several fatty tumors like many dogs of his age. They are believed to be benign, but he will be having surgery in early December to remove the largest ones that are starting to impede his mobility. Wilbur is up-to-date with vaccines and also recently had bloodwork done. His vet feels he is quite healthy for a dog his age and still has lots of love to give. Wilbur is housebroken and will often let you know when he needs to go potty, however, his foster mom does keep a belly-band on him in the house. The stones are causing him to have to urinate more frequently so the band is used when he might be alone for a few hours and overnight. We are hoping to find Wilbur a nice retirement home for the holidays, could it be yours?! Wilbur's adoption fee to the rescue is $175. The fee helps to cover some of his medical expenses. He is in a foster home in Lake Geneva, WI and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been submitted and approved.
