About Tucker

Australian Shepherd / German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

I'm urgently trying to find a reputable group in NJ or the surrounding area who can help with 'Tucker'. This is going to be a long email... Tucker (formerly Ken) ended up at BARC Shelter in Houston on the urgent EUTH list after being found at a construction site. A crappy rescue group tagged Tucker for someone else and he was flown to an adopter in NJ who ended up dumping him (in an alley supposedly). Another family agreed to take him in and apparently he went to several training sessions (see video) bc the family has an autistic son. Sadly the son climbed on a bed when Tucker was eating a bone and you can guess what happened next...Tucker bit the son and he required stitches. It was a resource guarding issue. The family did not want him put down but knew they couldn't keep him and put him into boarding with a trainer in NJ. That family has been in touch with the person in Houston who originally flew him to the 'friend of a friend' who dumped him to begin with. The rescue who tagged him originally is not taking responsibility. Tucker is now with a trainer who has given everyone another week to come up with a plan for him. He will definitely need more training and someone familiar with resource guarding issues. The person who worked with him in Houston before flying him out is familiar with his behavior and believes his issues were only exacerbated by the family who adopted and then dumped him. He's supposedly a very loving, smart, good dog and would do best in a home without children. My biggest fear is that he'll be put down. He's had THREE different owners fail him so far and deserves SO much better. Breaks my heart! %BD%BD%BD%BD If you can help or know anyone who might be able to help, please let me know. Time is definitely not on his side! I don't have much time to find a plan for him and I have zero rescue contacts up there. %BD%BD%BD%BD Thanks for reading this! Once he's safe with rescue, I'm happy to start raising funds for training or whatever else is needed. See photos and video of Tucker working with another trainer (I believe prior to being placed with the family with autistic son). I don't believe the bite was reported bc they didn't want him to be euthanized since he's not aggressive and was guarding his space/bone. %BD%BD%BD%BD Thank you for taking the time to read this urgent plea.
