About Nike (west)

Hi, my name is NIKE - ID#A4321983. I am a neutered male, gray and white American Pit Bull Terrier. The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 2 months old, and I have been at the shelter since Sep 27, 2019. Nike,our 2nd longest long timer, has ears that point forward. It is adorable! Now when he gets excited or shows interest in something, like hotdog or cheese, his floppy ears will stand up. Nike comes across as a shy guy, but I think he is just trying to figure you out. Once he is comfortable, he will happily shake your hand and sit patiently for you. Nike's kennel is kind of hidden so it's hard for him to get a passerby's attention. Unfortunately, the chaos and commotion of shelter life have affected him and it's easy to notice that after 5 months he is depressed and discouraged. Nike is smart and energetic. He would do well with an active owner or family and a fenced yard for some zoomies. He knows 'sit', 'down', and 'shake' and if there was a professional hot dog catching league, he would be an MVP. In his eval, Nike was determined to be dog tolerant/selective so be sure to bring any other dogs in the home for a doggy intro. He does pull a bit on the leash at first, but settles after the initial excitement of getting out of his kennel. He walks pretty well on leash off the kennel grounds.
