About Mickey

Meet Mickey, he's estimated to be at least 8-10 yrs old and is a Jack Russell Terrier (mix?) looking for his forever home. This sweet guy came into our care at the end of August as a stray, found standing in the middle of the road. He was in horrible condition, as you can see by some of his pictures. His nails were overgrown, he was very infested with fleas, had a horrible cough, and weighed only about 7 pounds. We took him to the vet the next day and since then he's been seeing the vet on a weekly basis. Mickey does have a heart murmur, but that's not too concerning to our vet. He did have a lot of fluid in his lungs and was anemic. His condition was so alarming at first, that he was hospitalized for 3 days. We were extremely worried as to what was going to happen. After, many appointments, medication, and some TLC, Mickey is now slowly but surely getting better!!! He does have congestive heart failure, and will have to be on medication for that for the rest of his life. He now weighs close to 14 pounds and acts like a completely different dog. Mickey does fine with other dogs, but would like a home without young children. We're not sure how he is with cats yet, but that can be tested. He is housebroken and crate trained. Mickey is neutered, UTD on vaccinations, and microchipped. Overall, he is a very happy dog, and does not act like a senior at all. We know he'll make someone an amazing companion!
