About Fulton

Adoption Fee: $375
Jack Russell / Rat Terrier
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Our lovable Fulton is a happy-go-lucky fellow, who loves to play, but then is content to snuggle up in his special person's lap. Just 10 months old, Fulton found himself in NYCACC, and he sailed through his behavior evaluations and was quickly adopted. His miracle was short lived, because when he developed the 'sniffles,' his new family returned him to the shelter, rather than provide Vet care. Without immediate treatment, Fulton's symptoms progressed to full blown pneumonia. Unfortunately, upper respiratory viruses and bacteria are rampant in city shelters which house large numbers of animals, and in the 'old' days, shelter dogs who became sick were simply euthanized. Now, there is a more enlightened perspective in the Animal Welfare field, so Rescues have the opportunity to pull these dogs and provide Vet care. We jumped at the chance to help Fulton, and as a strong pup with a healthy immune system, he responded beautifully to antibiotics and supportive care. In no time he rebounded into a healthy, happy puppy. Our Vet has cleared him for adoption. Fulton has that puppy effervescence that Terrier Lovers cherish. He is an extremely good natured dog, and has earned rave behavior evaluations. He made a seamless transition to foster care, and seems to treat every change as an exciting new adventure. Fulton appears to be Jack Russell Terrier with perhaps a scosche of Rat Terrier in the breed mix. This dog has a dynamite playful quality and is quite affectionate. He is a great lap dog, but will manage to get into his folks' business as much as he can. This sweet little guy loves absolutely everyone, and the more attention he gets the better he likes it. Fulton is a petite boy just at 11 pounds. He has the short tri-color coat, and pointy ears of the Rat Terrier, and a stocky Jack Russell physique. He sheds a moderate amount, but his short coat is easy to groom. He's very well behaved, and tolerates a lot of handling, so grooming should be a breeze. Fulton has that one in a million temperament that makes him an ideal family dog. He could easily join a home with older kids, who are used to handling small dogs, or he could join the active lifestyle of a single, couple, or recent retiree. He also does well with all dogs, and might also do well with cats. Fulton loves attention, and doesn't require alot of exercise. A couple of leisurely leash walks each day, in addition to frequent potty breaks should do the trick. Fulton is in good shape, and has been recently neutered. He has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home. He has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. He has been dewormed, and microchipped.
