About Thor

Thor is an adorable, fully grown Mini Aussie who loves being around humans and does great with other dogs and even cats! Thor gets very excited and might be too much energy for some cats though. Because of Thor's strong urge to herd, we believe Thor would do best in a home with no children as their unpredictability can be confusing and cause him anxiety. Thor is a hit at the dog park and is everyone's best friend as he loves to chase and be chased. He does great off-leash with his foster at the dog park, beach, and camping. When he's not being active outdoors, he loves to play and be a goofball with his toys and curl up in your lap when it's downtime. Thor also does great with eating with other dogs and is not food aggressive! While Thor tends to ignore his foster dog sibling, we believe having the presence of them there helps to relate to Thor it's time to be calm and relaxed while the 'hooman' is gone. With this, we believe Thor would do best in a home with other dogs and potentially cats in the house. While fluffy and adorable, Thor is your grade A, working/herding dog. In the first two years of Thor's life, he was returned to the shelter by two different families. After having Thor in our care for only a few days, it became very clear Thor was misunderstood and misdirected from a young age. An intelligent and working breed dog like Thor needs an active, savvy and patient handler to help him direct and navigate his energy. Clearly lacking that from his first two families and picking up resource guarding and anxiety somewhere along the way. From the patience and training experience from Thor's foster, he has come a long way since our first week with him and no longer resource guards. Moving forward, Thor will need a savvy and patient adopter who is open and willing to work with a trainer/on training during Thor's adjustment period. Thor has every single tool available to him and is eager to use the right ones, he just needs the right adopter to show him the way to using them.
