Meet Lexy Get your tissues out, this is a tearjerker. Sometimes landlords and life can be cruel and unusual and this just may be one of those cases. Thanks to a new and completely unexpected 'no pets' policy, poor, beautiful Lexy finds herself homeless and abandoned at the shelter. Lexy's owner is heartbroken at having to surrender her girl, but given her choices she chose to do what she hopes will be best for Lexy in the long run. Lexy arrived on November 5, 2019. Lexy is absolutely terrified at being left in the shelter. Her whole world has come crashing down and she sits shaking and petrified in her cold concrete kennel. To help her transition, we've paired Lexy with a sweet pup named, Noah. It's instant love and Noah is helping to calm Lexy down and give her the comfort and confidence she desperately craves. When Lexy is feeling good and knows she's loved, her owner says that Lexy is one of the sweetest dogs. According to her owner, Lexy is just about perfect. Lexy is one-year-old female border collie/lab mix. She's on the small/medium size at 23 pounds. She has a gorgeous black and white coat that is silky and soft. She loves dogs, cats, kids and people of all ages. Lexy is full of energy and loves, loves, loves to play. She would do great in an active household where she can join in all the fun. Lexy is house-trained and crate trained. And, she's super smart. If Lexy has one flaw, it's that she needs to learn to walk better on a leash. She's so eager to get going that she has yet to master the slow roll and casual pace of a walk ha-ha! That is something that can be taught though and as a resident at our shelter, we'll continue to work on her leash walking behavior. Other than that Lexy is an incredible young dog. We hope with our love and support we can help Lexy return to the happy-go-lucky pup that she once was. Maybe you can help her too. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
