Harvey is an extremely sweet boy, but also in need of a very particular type of adopter. Like so many others who adopted a border collie as a 'family pet,' we have begun to experience issues because of the needs and temperament of the breed, which are not conducive to a suburban family lifestyle. Harvey is highly intelligent, high energy, and highly reactive to motion and chaos, so it is important that he is not adopted into a home with children. We have experienced two bite accidents involving children when circumstances were chaotic and he was overstimulated. Harvey is a one-owner dog, suitable for an experienced single owner or couple who are familiar with his breed. He is extremely affectionate, loving and eager to please me as his owner with whom he's most closely bonded. He is protective and not fond of strangers, but don't worry - some time spent giving treats and throwing a ball, he will learn to trust and love you. He may growl and be wary of you in the beginning. I am mainly rehoming him because of my young children.
