About Zoey

We have had Zoey for a year. We adopted her from Indy Humane, and found out a few months in that she and our other dog, Margo, cannot live together. We have tried to make it work, but cannot trust our dogs together unmonitored - which is extremely stressful and not the best environment for either of our pups. They have become increasingly distrustful and anxious of each other and without redirection or separation will fight to the point of serious injury. Zoey is about 50 lbs and 2.5-3 years old. She is incredibly smart and food motivated. She loves to learn and pays close attention to all cues. She loves people but struggles to get along with other pups. She has been introduced to many with little luck. It would be best for her to start off in a home with no dogs or other pets. When she is home without other dogs, she is much more at ease and responds more readily. That being said, I truly believe that with the proper training and attention, she could learn to interact more cordially. She is potty-trained and lets her people know when she needs to go outside! When there's a lot of excitement and she feels she's being left out, she may have some nervous accidents. Zoey knows many tricks as well as 'sit,' 'stay,' 'lay down,' 'leave it', 'heel', and 'place'. She is easy to train and can learn new tricks in just a few sessions. She is crate-trained and happily stays in her crate when we are at work during the day. She also loves cuddling up on the couch at night with her people! She has tons of energy and loves to run, tug, fetch, and chew. She is much more attentive and relaxed with a few good play sessions a day. She has good leash manners and has greatly improved. However, she will lunge and bark when she sees other dogs. To a point she will redirect for treats and will continue to improve with practice. Zoey is microchipped and up-to-date on all of her vaccinations.
