About Adelaide

Meet Adelaide! This beautiful little sweetheart loving and kissy and playful! Adelaide is a 3 month old mix of Cairn Terrier Mix Mom and Parti Poodle Mix Dad making her non-shedding and less prone to cause allergies. Her coat is a black and white with the cutest blaze down her little nose. She weighs in at about 5 pounds now and we don't expect her to be bigger than 15-16 pounds. As we only got to see the Mom and not the Dad it is a rough guess. Adelaide (and her sister Louisa who is also available for adoption separately) came from a small town called Taft in Kern County. The mom was not spayed and subsequently a neighbor's dog got into the yard and yet another unplanned litter was the result. By the time they were available for homes and we could get there Louisa and Adelaide were the last two available. In rescue they are in private foster care with 3 German Shepherds, 3 smaller dogs and another rescue dog who is about two years old and their very best friend! They are also with cats and want nothing more than to play with them too! Louisa is very playful, full of kisses and exceptionally smart! She is not housebroken completely yet but got the concept of the puppy pads down very quickly and is great in her puppy pen putting herself to sleep in it when she is tired. Adelaide really loves other dogs as well as toys and would do great in an active household. Her adoption fee includes: 1. Current vaccinations 2. Spay (when she is old enough per the terms of our adoption agreement) 3. Rabies (when she is old enough) 4. Deworming 5. Microchip 6. Collar and leash 7. Starter food with puppy health supplement and treats An adoption fee does apply. As we prescreen via email ONLY (we do NOT make or receive phone calls in the pre-screening phase) please tell us a bit about you such as: 1. Your lifestyle, activity level and work schedule. 2. Area you live in and if it is a house or apartment. 3. How many adults, children and pets in the household. 4. Where your pet stays when you are out or at work. 5. Where your pet will sleep. Some notes to consider before applying for Adelaide: 1. Adelaide is part Cairn Terrier and part Poodle which will mean that she will more than likely need groomings about every 6 weeks. 2. Adelaide is a 3 month old puppy and as such will require the time and commitment to become the best canine citizen she can be. Please make sure that everyone is on board and ready for the responsibility of a puppy. 3. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potential adopter comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by Skype. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER. 4. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. We try to answer every email but it is not always possible. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place.
