About Salsa

Miss Salsa is a spicy little redhead, who dances when she's excited. She's affectionate and friendly, and she meets new people (including children) very well when she's out socializing in public. She takes her job of guarding the house seriously, though, so she'll usually bark for a while at male newcomers until she decides they're trustworthy. After she's satisfied that they're acceptable, she's delighted to add them to her ever-growing list of friends. In her quest for fun and adventure, Salsa loves to go on walks; her eagerness does tend to make her pull at leash, especially when she sees a squirrel begging to be chased. But she's only 18 months old, so who can blame her for such vitality? She's always alert to goings-on in the neighborhood, monitoring any unexpected noises or activity, but when that doesn't keep her entertained, she's content to amuse herself with a toy or do a bit of sunbathing in the backyard. She doesn't yet quite have the hang of coming when called, but since she tends to tag along behind you wherever you go, it's seldom necessary to call her. Salsa's house-training has been perfect, and her house manners are very good. She has learned to sleep quietly in a crate at night, but of course she's sure that she actually deserves to sleep on a real bed. Other dogs of any size interest her, and she likes to meet and interact with them. However, she's a little unsure of what constitutes appropriate play and when it's OK to allow another dog to share her space or her toys. If another dog grouses at her, she has the gumption to grouse back but doesn't escalate things. She just prefers to live and let live. Salsa keeps her slim (14 lb.) physique with a lively activity regimen that includes adorable dancing on her hind legs with her canine version of 'jazz hands.'
