This canine, named Simon, has been a permanent fixture at Wayne County Shelter in Fairfield, Illinois, since October 15, 2019, when we picked him up as a stray on one of our outer county roads. Simon, despite being adored by shelter staff, has been unable to find his 'forever' home. Simon hasn't done anything wrong; he's just constantly found himself left behind as all his doggie friends have been adopted. He's currently our longest-serving resident and yet he's playful and absolutely loves people. We need to find someone who can take care of him. He deserves nothing less than an amazing home. Shelter manager Mandy Bradham said: 'Simon has been so unlucky, and it's through no fault of his own. The sad thing is, only 20% of the strays brought in are returned to owners.' 'They either get dumped or owners just simply choose to not pick them up. If you're not committed to caring for a dog in the long term, don't get one.' I sat in Simon's kennel for awhile this morning, thinking about his view and how sad he must be staring at the same wall every day. Simon has yard time daily, we play ball, and he gets walks from volunteers from time to time. What Simon needs is a family to call his own. He needs a yard to run in, a person whom he loves and loves him back. What Simon needs to find is his fairy tale ending. So please help us bless Simon with an amazing family.
