About Tabitha

Adoption Fee: $125
Rottweiler / Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Tabitha is a very sweet 1-2 year old female that likely had puppies at some point prior to being rescued. She was found in Pinion, AZ on the Navajo Reservation and rescued by Blackhat Humane Society. She is still a bit nervous around new people and things but is very eager to please and learns quickly. She seems to slightly prefer women to men, but once she gets to know you, she loves everyone. She lives with another male dog, a playful cat, and an 8-year old human and she gets along with all of them. Tabitha knows how to sit, how to wait for the signal before eating, how to use a dog door, and is fully housebroken at the foster's home. Tabitha still has lots of puppy in her and will sometimes grab things to chew, but she is learning to pick the dog toys over shoes or other items--she loves dog toys!! Tabitha needs someone willing to take the time to take her places and make her feel comfortable around new things. She is very treat motivated and does learn quickly. Prior to coming to rescue, Tabitha suffered an injury to her back right femur. X-rays revealed a fracture at the top of the femur, but she has learned to use the leg quite well on her own. Two of three veterinarians have recommended that we go through therapy with her rather than performing a femoral head ostectomy (FHO) because she uses the leg quite well, and doesn't appear to be in any pain whatsoever, but there may come a time when surgery should be considered. We are looking for an adopter willing to help Tabitha with her therapy and promise to take care of her into her old age. She is being fostered in Flagstaff, AZ. Application and home check or references required.
