They were very scared but friendly - wagged their tails but kept their distance. The Director of the rescue was sitting in her vehicle waiting for a dog to come in from a shelter in CO and saw these two pups. She was contemplating how she could catch them both at once seeing they were so worried. Luckily she sees a man come through the drive through, park, and get out of his vehicle trying to bribe them with a bag of chips. You could see the concern in his face for them as you could see every bone on this girl. She was losing her coat as her body was trying to utilize everything possible as fuel. So she was pretty rough- the Director of the rescue got out and asked the man if he knew who's dogs they were. He said no but explained the white one looks like it's going to die if she it isn't caught soon. Luckily the director had just stopped at the store and had canned food, treats, and leashes in her vehicle. So they proceeded to open up cans of dog food and treats to gain the trust of the poor skinny dogs. Well they finally caught them and the young man took them home and fostered them while the rescue made room. Once they gained some weight they had to be moved and that is when we noticed how bad of shape Abby was in- something was wrong with the way she walked. So the rescue rushed her for x-rays that day and we found she had possibly been hit by a car probably about 6-9 weeks prior to being found. So on top of being homeless she was in pain and probably couldn't get out to find food. We honestly don't know how she survived but she did - our belief is that Flower had to have been taking food to her. Anyhow Abby has had surgery and both girls are doing great!!!! Temperament- Very happy, loving, and playful Energy Level- Very active - this girl is learning what toys are and how to play and be a puppy.. Dogs/Cats- She is wonderful with the other dogs here. We can do a cat introduction if requested. Housetrained- Using a dog door to get in and out and doing perfect. This beautiful little girl is too cute.. She is so sweet, happy, very playful, and loving.. She will make a wonderful addition to any loving family wanting a cutie to love and spoil. We thought she was a young puppy when we got these guys in however the vet believes her growth was just stunted due to malnutrition and this is probably as big as she will get- as he believed they are already about 9 months old.
