About Carbon

Adoption Fee: $300
Mastiff / Great Dane
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Say hi to Carbon (aka Carburrito, Carburetor, Carbs, etc)! We've been keeping this gentle giant a secret for a few months while he gained some weight and got healthy! He came to us from a rural Ohio shelter in July and has since blossomed into a big, goofy ham of a dog that was once stuck inside the shell of a malnourished, scared boy. Now, he's ready to be adopted into an experienced, committed, and super loving family where he will be cared for & spoiled like the prince he is for the rest of his days. A little info about Carbon... 1) He is a Cane Corso (potentially with some Great Dane mixed in there, too). The Cane Corso is a rare breed that's also known as the Italian Mastiff. They're closely related to Neopolitan Mastiffs. The Cane Corso breed is considered a 'guardian breed' and we will require that any potential adopters have experience with them OR another guardian breed (Bullmastiff, Great Pyrenees, etc) type dog. 2) Carb's is approximately 2-3 years old according to our vet. He's a young lad and he's got a decent amount of energy, but he's also quite the snuggler. He loves to run around his foster family's backyard and then come inside to crash. 3) Due to his size and strength, Carbs will not be able to be placed in a home with small dogs (under 40lbs) or cats. 4) At night, Carbon requests that his new family allow him to lay up against them and cuddle until he decides it time to get up in the morning. He promises to try and keep his snoring to a minimum. He's also hoping for rainy Sunday's inside and movie marathons on the couch. This isn't a deal breaker but he would really love a cuddle buddy. 5) While Carbon would enjoy another active, playful fur sibling, he is perfectly content being an only child, too. Lower energy dogs may not appreciate his play style. 6) Speaking of kids ... Carbon seems to enjoy the occasional company of younger humans who are dog-savvy and older than 8 years old or so. However, as a general rule, we will not be adopting Carbon to home with any small children. We don't know how he would like living with kids full-time and to be on the safe side, we want to avoid 'testing' that idea. Kiddos as visitors would be fine. 7) Carbon needs a fenced-in backyard that is privacy-fenced. Absolutely no electric fencing (ya know, we're force free advocates!) and no chain-link for this guy. We're asking that the fence be 6ft or taller. He's not a fence hopper but he could be if he really wanted to & we want to keep him safe. 8) Last but certainly not least is something Carbon doesn't really like for us to talk about but hey, it's info that adopters should know! While he's pretty close to perfect, Carbon is working on leash reactivity. He's working on this with his foster mom and one of our rescue's trainers, but his new family must be willing to continue this training. P.S- Carbon's adoption comes with free, lifetime dog sitting. Seriously. We love this boy and will babysit your 100lb baby whenever you need! We want the very best for Carbon and although his adopter's requirements are (somewhat) lengthy, his needs are our number one priority in the adoption process. We appreciate your understanding! If you think you'd be a good fit for Carburrito, reach out to us and let's chat! 614-434-6618 [email protected]
