About Collette

Adoption Fee: 400
Bengal
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Collette is a very special, beautiful, purebred, female 'silver' Bengal, approx. 10 yrs. old. She is not formally registered anymore. Current owner has become disabled and has too many changes in her life now for Collette to continue to be a happy cat. Collette was rescued from a cattery where she was kept in a small cage 24/7, for the first 4 years of her life. (Abused/neglected for first 4 years of her life.) She was declawed on all 4 paws. Apparently, she was rarely touched and was originally very shy. She does not like small enclosed places or being held still. She still suffers from some night terrors and is still not fond of loud noises. She is not happy with anything that seems to remind her of a cage or any kind of confinement. She is not fond of change. Collette is now very sweet once she gets to know you. She is affectionate and likes lots of attention, although she is not a lap cat, she likes to curl up against you for chin and back scratches. She may be a little cautious and hesitant the first several weeks however then her natural curiosity and 'Bengal-ness' will overcome especially with play. Collette would be best in a quieter adult home with no other cats. She is good with all adults, but like most prima donna's, she seems to prefer men. She has never been around young children or large dogs. She does well with slow moving small dogs once she gets used to them. Collette has been an inside cat with occasional outside hunting adventures which usually end with her bring some small dead mouse or snake up to the house to show off - even though she is declawed. Like all Bengal cats, she will need a tall cat tree preferably in front of the window with the sun rays beaming in and lots of moving feather/fur/laser cat toys to keep her attention. She also needs someone who can spend a lot of time with her and have nice long visits with her as she is vocal, loves to have her chin/neck scratched, and loves long interactive play sessions. Collette is partially leash/harness trained. She does great with litter boxes if they are not too deep, not covered, easy to access, and kept super clean. Collette is current on all her shots. Adopters must come to personally get Collette and accompany her back home.
