About Finley

Adoption Fee: $400
Saint Bernard
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

You know how in those cheesy holiday movies you can always tell who the main love interest is going to be because they have this amazing dog%BD'%BD|well, meet Finley! Amazing Finley has the good looks of a Hollywood K-9 star, but his personality is all muppet. His foster mom has affectionately nicknamed him Fozzie Bear. Finley is a 4-year-old male Saint Bernard. We don't know a whole lot about Finley's life before coming to Lucky Farms. He was surrendered along with another female to animal control. He was around 20 pounds underweight and needed a lot of TLC. We believe he was living outside for some time, but his foster mom is certain that Finley was well-loved and lived indoors at some point in his life. While he has no basic obedience training, Finley had been taught manners. He greets people calmly and doesn't jump. Manners are far harder to teach then obedience. A simple basic obedience course once he's settled in with his new family will be a great bonding experience. He's potty trained. He never steals food or jumps up on counters. He stays off furniture. He's never torn up anything. He did have an unsuccessful break in attempt to the kitchen garbage to get some leftovers, but his foster mom just thought it was a compliment about her cooking%BD'%BD|he didn't want any to go to waste! Since being in his foster home, Finley has learned to walk on a leash, to not beg for food, to use a dog bed, to appreciate belly rubs, and most importantly, to relax because his human will always come home with cuddles. If you're still reading this, here is the secret. Finley is a really special dog. Finley has so much love to give. For example, on walks, Finley would often see his foster mom's coworker. After a stressful day, this coworker would email to come visit Finley because his snuggles just melt the stress away. Finley attended a local parade for the university's homecoming and was just as much of a star as the homecoming king and queen! He did great meeting people of all ages and being around lots of activity. Finally, his foster mom has to plan extra time on walks because Finley likes to take hug breaks. He is just such a happy dog. Finley's ideal placement would be with a person or family that likes to cuddle and has a fenced in backyard for him to run and sniff and roll around in the fall leaves. In the house, Finley likes to be with his family. He is always sprawled out about a foot away from where the action is happening. Finley happily follows his foster mom from room to room and likes to suggest hug breaks often. Finley needs a person or family that will keep working with him on leash training and exposing him to new environments. Finley is eager to please and likes to experience new things. He is happiest when he is with his family, both inside and outside the house. A simple basic obedience corse with his new family will help him learn these skills & help build a bond. Finley would do well with children and other dogs. He would not do well with cats or very small dogs. He is UTD on shots & preventatives, microchipped, and neutered. He's currently being fostered in Bowling Green KY. Adopters are required to travel to the foster home to pick up their dog is their environment where they're comfortable. There is an adoption donation to help the rescue recoup the costs of vet care & other costs while in the rescue's care.
