About Zoolander

Please note, we are a Texas based rescue that transports our pups once they are adopted. All of our dogs reside in foster homes, so much is known about their temperament, training level and personality. We know adopting a dog sight unseen can be daunting, so we are happy to share additional videos, photos and even let you Facetime with the pup. We are primarily an equine rescue, but do assist with a small number of dogs annually. We are happy to provide references from previous adopters if needed. Thank you for wanting to adopt! Millennials will recognize my name from the Ben Stiller cult classic in which Ben portrays the guileless but endearing, three time male model of the year, Derek Zoolander. Obviously, I acquired this name because I am 'really, really, really ridiculously good looking!'....... And, I am funny! My hairytage is a smashing combination of the Great Pyreenes from the Pyrean Mountains of Spain and France and the Akbash from Turkey....such International flair!! Originally, my ancestors were bred to guard flocks of goats and sheep, thereby becoming an indispensable helpmate for the farmer. (P.S. I would love to be your helpmate!!) In modern day American society, goat and sheep flocks are in short supply, so, most generally, the goal for these gorgeous Livestock Guardian breeds is to protect their People and people's property. However, just like the Zoolander in the movie, I think my programming went hay wire!! I am the 'FRIENDLIEST' Livestock Guardian dog in the World!! I have never met a stranger and I Love all people!! My goal in life is to give, give, and give unconditional love, oh, and World Peace!! Anyone who sees my stunning good looks and galoofy nature becomes enamored. What's not to like? I have a strong build, a beautiful, thick coat, and exude elegance and majesty....until I start doing my 'wiggle waggle' and wag the entire back half of my body. Then, I wrap myself around your knees in a hug!! But, back to my good looks; Genetically designed for high profile modeling :) and to stroll the 'catwalk'....or, would that become the 'dogwalk'? I will have to ask Foster Mum about this!! At only 10 months old, I am still a blank slate and willing and ready to learn (only, don't take me to a Daiye Spa to be brainwashed to go after the Prime Rib Roast...ummm..I mean Prime Minister of Malaysia)!! I just need someone willing to take the time to help me become my best self. I am a goofy, fun loving guy and I LOVE people!! I can be silly and playful, but know how to walk quietly on the leash and have learned to sit. I am just a happy go lucky pup with an amazingly sunny disposition. I get along great with all other dogs, large and small. Because of my working breed background, I am an 'Easy keeper' and do well on a minimum amount of food each day (less food = less clean up!!). I greatly enjoy my daily walks, but my breed is not designed to run all day! My ancestors would sit quietly on the hillside patiently watching their flocks. Foster Mum says that I am medium energy...even as a pup!! I am crate trained and will lay quietly throughout the night on my orthopedic bed inside my crate!! Only fitting for the three time male model of the year to get his beauty sleep!! I have been practicing my modeling faces ( Blue Steel, La Tigra, and Magnum) just for you!!
