About Ace

Adoption Fee: $200
German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Adoption Fee: $200 - Around 2 years old, Male-Neutered, Up to date on Vaccines, On Hw and Flea prevention. He is crate trained and house trained, but would need to be crated when his people are away. This is Ace! He is a very handsome, very dominant, nervey temperament, high energy/active and young boy who needs an owner who keeps to themselves, doesn't have other dogs and has a larger property. He needs an owner who is VERY firm, but also very patient. I see Ace doing best with a Veteran or retired Police type personality the doesn't have a lot of visitors and keeps to themselves. Someone who is outdorsey, structured and active person that can run him around on their 4 wheeler, golf cart or tractor daily. This guy is struggling in rescue and would really just love to find his forever person. It was very obvious to us when Ace was surrendered, that his previous owner did not put the training into this guy, that he needed to succeed in society. He pulled on leash, was incredibly reactive/aggressive to people and other dogs(male and female) he jumped, nipped, barked at everything and everyone and basically did whatever he wanted, when in the presence of people. He was incredibly territorial and posessive. He had absolutely zero respect of humans/other animals and he was starting to assert his dominance on those around him. Since Ace was surrendered to us in August, We have gotten him neutered and up to date on vaccines. We have worked incredibly hard to teach him to walk on leash nicely, work well off leash(with a mini educator, shock collar), listen to basic obedience commands, respect people's space, ignore the cats, be non reactive to people and be polite and non reactive or aggressive with other dogs(still working on this daily). He is still very much a work in progress but he has come very far during his time with us. He will continue to need worked with and exercised daily once he is adopted, to stay in a good place. HE WORKS BEST WITH A SHOCK COLLAR FROM E COLLAR TECHNOLOGIES.His adopter will be required to get their own collar or buy a discounted one from us. Ace's Perfect Adopter: -Ace gets overstimulated if there is too many people, too much sound or other animals, so he needs to be on a property,in the country, not in a neighborhood where it's busy busy.A home with NO OTHER DOGS. Also a home where there isn't a ton of people coming and going. At this point he would also do better with not going to parks or stores as his brain can't handle all the motion, sounds and sights. He's the type of guy that needs to live in the country with someone who is very active or can run him with a golf cart, 4 wheller, tractor, etc daily. Someone who will expect him to mind his manners and won't be afraid to discipline and set consistent firm boundaries for him. -Someone who will make him respect space every day. - I'd say someone who doesn't have kids now, possibly grandkids that can be introduced properly once he is settled. He is actually great with our 2 yr old son and 5 and 7 yr old daughters, BUT he needs a lot more work before living in a home with the chaos and stimulus that goes on with having children, due to his want to control. - Someone who doesn't need to give affection all day long(That's one of the reasons he got as aggressive/reactive as he did, in the first place) This guy needs light affection when he does a good job and a scratch here and there! -He also needs someone who will laugh when he's being goofy. Someone who will enjoy the conversations he has with you while he rolls on his back.lol -Someone who is very active and either jogs or runs daily, would be able to run him with a 4 wheeler, bike him or treadmill him daily! He loves loves to go for runs. -Someone whose handeled or owned stronger breeds, especially stronger breeds with behavioral issue!! -Someone who is comfortable using a shock collar with Ace, as that's what we've used to get him in this good place. We use the mini educator from E collar technologies. - Id say someone with no other dogs. Right now Ace is living with 7 other dogs, 2 cats and a chicken, but we train and rehabilitate dogs for a living. He has been socialized with many dogs and people, but still has a far way to go. -He has A LOT of endurance but does not have a good working drive, so he needs an adopter that isn't looking for a solid working dog. If you think you are up for a project type dog that would be a good guard dog, can be patient BUT very firm, are VERY active (walking, running, biking or treadmilling and are interested in a loyal and high energy friend, then he may be your guy!
