About Benji

PLEASE READ WHOLE POST! This is Benji. He is aprox 5-6 years of age. He is a purebred Shih tzu. He is house trained. Crate trained. Leash trained. Great with dogs and cats. Great with kids. Great with people. Great in the house. Great at the groomers and the vets office. Great in the car. Why do we need you to read this whole post if he is so great? Because his health is not great. He has a heart murmur which is rated at a 5, with 6 being the worst. He has cataracts on both eyes and glaucoma on one, the one that has glaucoma also is bulging and will need surgery to have it removed completely. Why haven't we removed it? We would have, if his heart could handle the surgery. We had an echocardiogram done on his heart, still waiting on the full report, but the doctor found a small mass on his lung.. heart was not enlarged which was great, but due to the mass on the lung he doesn't feel like surgery would be an option at all unless a speciality team handles it. We are maxed out at this point, we have spent over $1000 just finding the MANY different health ailments.. we don't want to give up, but also don't have what he will need at this point in his journey. We could offer him a great life here at the refuge until the end of his life, but feel he deserves a real home, with a family all his own.. and with someone who could possibly have the means to be able to continue any and all treatment he will need to help prolong his life. He is such a sweet boy. He deserves the world, and we want to find someone who can give that to him. We are asking for a donation in ANY SIZE for his adoption to help with what we have spent so far, but our main concern is finding him the right home, and the right family.
