About Samuel

Lab mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Samuel is a 50 pound, 6 month old, loving, playful, smart, and energetic lab mix puppy. He enjoys chasing a ball, chewing on sticks, ripping up paper, as well as running and wrestling at the dog park and doggy day care. He loves other dogs, especially the big active ones who enjoy rough play. Samuel is a lover who enjoys snuggling on the couch and sleeping with his person and is happy to greet everyone he meets with kisses (unless there is a dog nearby to distract him...because this guy wants to PLAY!). He is crate trained and has been able to stay alone for up to 6.5 hours at a time. This smart pup potty trained himself at 14 weeks old immediately after being brought here from a shelter in Tennessee. He's learning to walk nicely with a no pull leash but Mr. I Can-do-it would much prefer to walk himself (he wants to carry the leash in his mouth!) Sammy hates bath time, but thinks he's living his best life when he is running and splashing in a lake. He is always the first to spot wildlife (whether it is birds, coyotes, or deer) and has a strong desire to chase them. I think he would probably make a good hunting companion. Sammy is still a puppy and will need additional training, but he is treat motivated and picks up on things very quickly! Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spay/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, we do not permit out of state adoptions of unaltered dogs or puppies. Puppies have special needs and require a home where there will be someone available to care for, socialize, and train them during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a 'teen' or adult dog. Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email [email protected] for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.
