About Indy

Adoption Fee: $100
Boxer / Pit Bull
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Indy is a loyal pup with a heart of gold. She has been in our home for almost 3 years after adopting her from a family who tragically lost their son (Indy's previous owner) and was not equipped to keep her. Indy was very attached to her previous owner and quickly grew to be the same to the male in our household as well. Indy took a long time to be able to relax and lay down (while not in her crate) in our home- she had a nervous and very 'alert' energy to her. Once she is comfortable though, she is super affectionate, cuddly and loving. She loves to follow you from room to room and just wants to be with you as much as possible. She is somewhat mellow inside the home once she's been walked/tended to, and is crate trained for night sleep. Indy would do best in a low key household where there are no other animals or children. She is dog selective- gets along with some and not with others, it's not exactly predictable (which is challenging). She currently lives with our other dog, a yellow lab who is very submissive and she gets along with him just fine. She is very obedient to basic commands, food motivated and loves to work for treats. We are desperately looking for a new home for Indy as we just had a baby and she is not a dog we trust around small children. We have a few private training sessions left with a trainer we've been working with that we would gladly give to whoever takes Indy in. We are trying to avoid surrendering Indy to a shelter as this would be cruel to do to her given her prior experiences and temperament, but once our baby starts crawling we may not have a choice. Willing to provide a plethora of information, history, supplies and guidance to anyone interested in making Indy a part of their family.
