About Mac

Meet Mac or as a few of his admirers have nicknamed him, Macaroni. Mac is a happy chocolate lab mix with copper highlights throughout his healthy coat and has piercing gold eyes. He is between 1-2 years old and weighs 54 pounds but needs to fill out and will probably be around 65 pounds. He is a lover of everything and everyone. He is inquisitive, very affectionate, full of sugar, gentle and has the trait of being a soft mouth lab. Most everything appears to be new to Mac, he is a quick learner, but he needs some patience and positive reinforcement. At first, he was hesitant to enter a building and go up steps but when he got so much attention after entering, he was hooked and does it with ease now. Mac meets other dogs very easily and likes children, men and women, he has not been cat tested yet. Mac is working on house training and doing well, he sleeps in his crate at night with only a few minutes of fussing and then settles down for a 7-8-hour snooze. His foster has been working on house manners with him and he is responding very well but does need some reminders. He is quickly learning to keep all four feet on the ground. He is calm on a leash and does not pull and ride wells in a car. He likes food but is not food aggressive around his foster fur siblings. He trains well with the right treats (he has his favorites.) Right now, Macs favorite thing is to follow his human around which is normal for a dog that has been in a shelter he also enjoys playing and hanging out with his foster fur siblings. He is young and has some energy but will settle down easily. He will need a fenced in yard and he will need regular exercise and a regular routine. He does not appear to be a chewer, and does not do much barking but will bark to alert if he hears someone outside. He would work well in most family structures, he is adaptable, he would do well with another dog, but it is not a requirement, but doggy playtime would be a plus. The number one on his priority list is a family that can give him a lot of love and attention, he is a true love bug!! He would like to go with you places and he likes to be petted, he is sweet, easy and has a very gentle nature. Mac has been neutered, is up to date on his vaccinations, and heartworm negative.
