About Mikkel

OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for ADULT dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. Also, our puppies can only be adopted to the immediate Houston vicinity as it takes 4 months to get them completely vetted at our vet here in Houston. We will not allow our dogs/puppies to be adopted out of the area without being spayed/neutered. We spay/neuter puppies at 4 months old. Mikkel is a lovable and affectionate pup. He loves belly rubs and head scratches. But more than anything, he loves to give kisses and be around humans. He also enjoys squeaky toys, treats, and exploring his environment. He is house trained, walks well on a leash, and only does his business outside. The crate is not his favorite place to be in, so he' ll 'sing' you a little song before bedtime but then sleeps through the night without issues. We are trying to teach him some manners. He loves affection so much, sometimes he will jump on you, but that is easily corrected by turning away. We are also trying to teach him commands such as sit, down, and no, but that is on-going. He has not been kid tested or cat tested. He is fine around other dogs with a proper introduction. Mikkel's love for his humans is so strong he can't stand being away from them for too long, he gets sad being alone, since he is not a fan of the crate. Mikkel can't wait to meet his future family this weekend. He'd be thankful to spend Thanksgiving and the rest of his life with a wonderful family who can give him the love and life he deserves. Mikkel is a male dachshund/terrier mix that we estimate to be around 3 years old and weighs approx 20lbs. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month time frame it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready.
