About Tiger

Adoption Fee: $50
Mastiff
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Tiger is a two year old purebred Presa Canario. He is super healthy and never had a health problem. He's had all his shots, neutered, and he weighs in at a massive 150 pounds. He is an extremely loving dog. I had to train him to stop resting his head on my bed and crying to wake me up for attention. He also does great on his own and has no problem being home alone all day long without causing any damage or accidents. He is fully trained to sit, down and not pull on a leash. He is potty trained and will whimper to let you know if he needs to be let out. He is very low energy and can be fine even in an apartment. He gets extremely exhausted from our 15-20 minute walks once a day. He is not a very vocal dog. He will bark when the doorbell rings or if a dog walks past the house sometimes but isn't one to bark ongoing. He's never seen a cat but if I had to guess, I don't think it would be a good match. He is very large and although he doesn't have much energy, he gets little sprints of energy when he sees something exciting. He acts very much like a puppy and does not seem to realize his own strength and size and can be overly pushy. So I do not think he would be good with a small dog either. He has lived with 3 other dogs before and got along with 2 of them great. One of them was the alpha male and they butt heads. Also, when I walk him most dogs bark at him because of his intimidating size and dogs growled at him at the dog park. He gets excited and runs up very pushy. So I wouldn't say he can't get along with other dogs. He is extremely close to the dogs he's lived with, but he's not well suited to someone who wants a dog that is really social. Because of his pushy nature, he hasn't done well around infants. He hasn't been around many kids but he did great at my friends bbq that had kids around 8. But he was too big and pushy for the two infants he met and they couldn't be set down around him. None of his problems with other dogs or kids was much of an issue for me but now he is starting to get a bit too protective of me and he nipped my male friend that came over when he met him. I have 3 roomates and all of us are constantly having new friends in and out of the house every day. I know most people don't have so many strangers around day to day and a lot of people would love a dog for protection. He is so loved and it shatters my heart to give him up but I can't afford to not have roomates. Hopefully someone has a loving home that will better suit what he needs.
