About NALA, Sweet and Happy

NALA was a star at the street fair today! Despite the noise, the dogs that wandered by, and the humans of all ages who came to meet her, she remained calm and well behaved. NALA (#A1827938) Spayed Female, about 6 years old and 50 pounds East Valley Animal Shelter 14409 Vanowen St Van Nuys, CA 91405 818-756-9323 She needs an adopter or a rescue. Nala lived with a family that had a 4 year old child and was surrendered in December due to moving. It's easy to see why Nala is a staff and volunteer favorite. Nala really is a GREAT dog!!! She's house trained and takes treats very gently and rides well in the car and walks well on leash. She knows sit, down, and shake. At the shelter, she was regularly the office dog in the volunteer office. She's usually friendly with strangers, asks to be pet. She's a very affectionate dog, a big time kisser and likes to cuddle or be nearby. Energy wise, she's calmer, so a good mile walk in the morning and she chills out the rest of the day. I live in an apartment and she's doing well here so I think she would be a great companion to someone who lives in an apartment or condo. Out on walks when she sees dogs she doesn't like, her body stiffens and she pulls on leash, but usually no growling or barking, and it's not hard to redirect her. I've noticed a strong prey drive for cats and squirrels, and when she sees them, she pulls on leash quite a bit. In general, when it comes to other dogs, she's selective, meaning she gets along with some dogs. She could probably handle having a dog she liked as a visitor but she needs to be the only pet in the home. She's the color of cinnamon sugar doughnuts and every day I've been receiving compliments on how beautiful she is! Nala has been selected to be part of the @pawsforlifek9 Shelter Training Program.
