About Thatcher Joe

Thatcher Joe was extraordinarily emaciated when he arrived. He was rescued from the side of the road in Tennessee by a prominent couple here in the Golden Isles. Thatcher Joe is extremely grateful (as we are) that he is here receiving the help he needs. He is turning into a very handsome guy. When he has put on all the weight he was intended to have, he will be a big boy. Fortunately, he has a big and friendly personality to go with it. Thatcher Joe may have been a hunting dog in his prior life, as he likes to keep his nose to the ground. The other day, while out walking, he discovered a cat in a culvert. The cat was not amused and let him know it in no uncertain terms. It was alarming to see Thatcher wearing a cat on his face, but they both got over it quickly and went their own ways. Thatcher was heartworm positive when he arrived, but has now been treated and is available as a foster to adopt. What does this mean? It means that you can foster him until his 30 days recuperation is complete, then finalize his adoption after a checkup. During his recuperation, we supply his medication; you supply the love and care. He is also neutered, microchipped and current on core vaccines.
