About Paco

Chihuahua
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Paco is a 3 year old male Chihuahua and weighs 8 pounds, neutered and up to date on shots. He is litter box and crate trained. He is very good about using his litter box and I haven't seen him marking in the house. Paco will also use the outdoor facilities, too. He does like his crate and will nap in it throughout the day having the freedom to go in or out whenever he chooses. Sometimes he naps on the bed with whatever dog he chooses. Paco is crated at night and when we leave only because we have a couple older dogs that are recovering from surgery and health issues. Paco doesn't seem to have a favorite person in our house. He's very happy when we come home. He's a really good boy when he goes to the vet or to the groomers to get his nails trimmed. We have not had him around children. (I don't know if he had been around children previously.) He does like to nap with me and burrows under the blankets. He loves kisses and snuggles and when I chase him. Paco lives with 6 dogs and 3 cats of various sizes and ages. Most of my dogs and cats are 10 and over and don't want to play much with a young pup. Most of the time Paco is mindful of their corrections if they don't like his shenanigans. Overall he plays very well with my youngest dog. Paco's likes: TREATS and more TREATS! He's a busy and is a curious boy. Favorite pass times are playing with toys, chasing his ball, chasing and wrestling with one of his foster brothers, chasing his tail and nipping hind legs of all the dogs. He loves car rides and is very good in the car. At first not so much but has learned quickly he needs to stay in his spot and not walk over the other dogs. He loves to let his feelings known when he sees something interesting on TV, people that get too close to the car, the printer is printing, someone knocks on the door, the noisy ice machine at the drive thru carry out and the people that work at drive thru restaurants. Always alert and sounding the alarm! Paco's dislikes: Doesn't care for dogs or cat getting close to his crate, litter box or food dish. He will let them know in no uncertain terms too, doesn't matter what size dog either. Doesn't like high value things taken from him by another dog or person. Cats--he doesn't seem to care for them but is tolerant of some of them. We have 1 inside cat and 2 outside. The inside cat has cancer, thankfully he doesn't bother her. One of the outside cats he doesn't bother much but the other he doesn't care for at all. If he sees her he's hot on her tail growling and barking. Paco's new family has to be very mindful of some of his behaviors. He WILL try to bolt out of an open door (house or car door) and will ignore you when called. Virtually no recall. We've been working on this. You must have a very secure yard so he doesn't find a place to squeeze through and escape. Paco is always picking items up off the floor or in the grass and trying to eat these mystery delights. If something is dropped on the floor he rushes in to snatch it up. At times he gets a bit cranky when I'm showing the other dogs or cats some attention or affection. Sometimes, when picking up the small dogs or cats he will jump and snap at them. Paco is a sweet boy and will make someone a wonderful companion! **Paco is currently being fostered in Lima, OH** If you would like more information about adopting this dog, please go to our website(www.chihuahua-rescue.org).
