About Harley

Meet Harley! She is a 1 �%BD year old, Border Collie/Red Heeler Mix (Dad was a Border Collie and Mom was a Red Heeler), she is approximately 50 pounds. We got her from Cairo, Georgia when she was 6 weeks old. She was socialized around kids and other dogs when we got her. She was spayed and micro- chipped as soon as she was old enough. We tried to keep her socialized around other dogs, and we have two children in our family so she is used to them. She is a sweet dog that has loved her family, making this a difficult decision. We believe that Harley would do better in an environment that will allow her more room to run. Our backyard is not big enough to fulfill her breeds' needs. She is house trained and does know basic commands. She is very smart and learns quickly. She loves the country and does well with other dogs similar to her in size. She does show signs of fear to strangers. She is not an aggressive dog, however she does not like to be pet by strangers and may give warning signs (showing teeth and 'mouthing' at one's arm, but has NEVER broken skin, like a bite). She shows extreme dedication to her family. She has recently found ways to get out of our fenced yard, but does not leave the yard, we feel like she's extremely loyal and protective of the house. Due to her resistance to strangers we feel that removing her from a neighborhood is the best thing for her. When she has a chance to go visit family at a farm, she is completely different, and much happier. Unfortunately, that family cannot take in another dog. This is a devastating decision for our family, however we are trying provide Harley with a better environment. She is current on all shots, and is on heartworm prevention
