About Polly-ADOPTION PENDING

Yorkie / Schnauzer
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Whenever a sweet and engaging Terrier gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are very loving, super- smart and make loyal family companions. They fit very well into a household and make excellent companions for all age groups as well as best friends for gentle canines. Polly is one of these cuddly and very sweet Terriers. The New Mexico vets believe Polly to be between 1 and 2 years old and 8 lbs (will be approximately 10 lbs when at her proper weight) of pure love. Polly is a wonderful spirit that is kind and loving in spite of the challenges of her earlier life (we have so much to learn from this beautiful girl). Polly was severely abused by children. A rubber band was wrapped very tightly around the base of her tail and ear prior to her being dumped at a high-kill shelter. Both tail and ear were left to fester and became severely infected. Through it all Polly had a kind (initially a bit frightened) and very sweet temperament that resulted in her being removed from the shelter environment. She was brought to a very compassionate NM vet that stood by Polly over the course of months through her ear/tail infections, worms, kennel cough and hair loss..all resulting from abuse and neglect. Polly emerged from this awesome and SO giving vet with a clean bill of health. Her tail and ear were amputated but since Polly is a long-haired girl, both become barely noticeable with healthy hair growth. She retained a love of life that knows no bounds! She's playful, happy, an all-time cuddler... and grateful for her brand new life! Polly, once comfortable in her environment, is very puppyish in her enthusiasm with those that are kind to her. She loves all women but is slower to accept males...that being said, she immediately fell in love with her male vet in New Mexico so perhaps she's just picky with her male choices. Polly has a love of life and positive attitude that touches the heart. After all, his very deserving girl has never had a loving and nurturing family to call her own. She has been a victim of circumstance throughout her life...Farfel's Rescue is committed to changing this for this dog that has so much to offer a committed family. Rescue dogs (and all dogs for that matter) can initially be a bit shy or nervous..this is expected in light of the very long transports and stresses of rehoming. When an adopting family is sensitive to the challenges of change and acclimation for these dog's, the transition is far easier. A home with a very loving and nurturing family that understands that blossoming takes time is perfect for Polly. Socialization, pure love and belly rubs are a gift to a dog that is undergoing a life change. If Polly is given the time and space, she will absolutely shine. Polly is such a great age and size... at just about 18 months to 2 years old, she is a perfect age - young enough to be open to new and wonderful possibilities in her life with many, many healthy, active years ahead yet old enough to have left her babyish behaviors behind). Polly is a bit thin at this point weighing in at about 8 lbs. Once at a proper weight, we believe she'll weigh just about 10 lbs. We envision active, dog-crazy retirees for our sweet lap dog. Polly would also do well with a younger family that works from home to love her up throughout the day. We feel that Polly is too sensitive to spend long hours alone while her family works full-time outside of the home. Polly will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. We've requested that Polly be spayed/microchipped prior to her transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Polly's spay and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used. Polly has a beautiful coat that is currently in need of ongoing care (her NM foster has been working hard on it). With a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is a great lifelong supplement for coat care as well as longevity) to keep her scruffy Terrier/Schnauzer coat cottony-soft, very healthy and matt-free. . Polly is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 10/19/2019. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet girl. If interested in this beautiful ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Polly, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
