About Elsa

Adoption Fee: $100
Australian Shepherd / Border Collie
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

COURTESY POST Elsa is a 5 year old Aussie Shepherd/Border Collie mix. She is house trained, crate trained, knows basic commands (is very treat-motivated when it comes to learning new things), does great riding in a car, and is very loving and loyal once she gets to know someone. She does require plenty of exercise outdoors to burn off her Aussie energy and mitigate her anxiety, but in the house, she's fairly low energy. Her favorite place to be is wherever her people are, preferably sitting on someone's foot or standing strategically over their foot so it can be used for belly rubs. Elsa would do best with an owner who has plenty of time to spend with her. She is distrustful of strangers and barks vigorously at people she doesn't know. She has nipped at people that she doesn't know as a warning, who persist in trying to pet her, so a home with minimal foot traffic would be best. The reason we are rehoming her is that this past year she has occasionally been attacking our older dog who is about half her size. Although the encounters are loud and scary, our other dog has NEVER been injured. Nevertheless, these incidents are very frightening for our young daughter who has become very fearful of her, and they cause our other dog anxiety. With some work Elsa might be fine living with another dog, as most of the time she and our other dog are fine together. But for the time being at least, she needs to be in a home where she is the only pet. Our preschool-aged daughter has lived with Elsa her whole life. We've never had any issues other than Elsa getting too rambunctious and knocking her down. Nevertheless, due to her energy level, she would probably do best in a home without small children. Elsa is an amazing and loving dog that will flourish with the right family. She does need work in meeting new people and with time, training and patience, that should happen. She has so much love to give and with the right family, she will provide a lifetime of joy. If you think Elsa is perfect for your family, please email me at: [email protected] There is a $100 re-homing fee to assure good folks with good intentions.
