CoCo: 'ADOPTION PENDING' 2 year old, chocolate, neutered male, natural ears & tail, 14' & 16 lbs. Shots up-to-date, Micro-chipped. Rescued from shelter. 'Hi everyone, I'm CoCo. Animal Control found me running the streets in Southern California. I was pretty hungry and grateful for food. The only thing is that I was pretty lonely in the shelter and I was stuck in a cage. I hadn't been there for very long when a nice family came and adopted me. They had a cute little kid and I thought I was in heaven. I'd only been there for a day or so when the little human took me for a walk along a busy street. Well, I'm a young 2 year old Min Pin boy and I get distracted easily. I got a good sniff of a wonderful smell that was just to awesome not to explore, so I took off and ran across the street. I completely forgot about all the cars and one of them hit me and broke my left back leg. Yep, the bone broke completely into two pieces. My new family that I thought was so great, put me in the car and took me back to the shelter and dropped me off. They wanted a dog that wasn't broken and they didn't want to get me fixed. I was soooo sad. Actually, I was heartbroken and in a lot of pain. I know I shouldn't have taken off like that, but I really thought they loved me and had made a commitment to always love and care for me. I really did forget about cars on the street and my little human friend, and I didn't realize that getting hit was so bad. Kind of like when humans do stupid things and have to learn from their mistakes..... I was in the shelter with my broken leg for almost two weeks when my IMPS foster mom came and got me out and took me home. She took me right away to a nice lady vet who fixed my broken leg. I had to live in a little crate for 6 weeks and had to be taken out to do my business on a leash. That was embarrassing and I had a really hard time being crated like that, but I was determined to be a good boy, and keep a positive attitude, stay quiet, happy and show my foster mom that I was worth all her efforts to get my leg well and keep me healthy. Not once did I growl or snap at my foster mom, even when I hurt and wanted to. I made sure I was always happy and in a good mood. Then one day she took me back to the nice vet lady. After a little surgery to get the pin that was holding my bones together out, I was finally allowed to be out of that crate and after a couple more weeks, become a real dog again. Halleluiah! Life is good! I'm so glad that that part of my life is over. I'm loving being able to be with my foster brothers and sisters and cuddling up with them and my human. My foster mom says I'm really happy and upbeat and that I love attention, but I'm not clingy. I still can't use the doggy door, but my foster mom lets me out to do my business, and I'm pretty good at making sure I don't have accidents in the house. I'm going to limp for a while and sometimes when I run I hold my broken (now healed) leg up and run so it doesn't hurt me so much. I can walk on it though so I'm getting better. I get along with my doggy siblings and I like the resident cat, but if it ran from me, I might chase it since that would be great fun and I do love having a good time! My foster mom says I'm one of the best dogs she's fostered and that my golden eyes and light chocolate color with red markings with a few blue hairs throughout my chocolate coat is really an unusual and beautiful color. My foster mom says that I'm a very handsome, good boy and that makes me feel really, really good! I'll do about anything for compliments and food. I'm loving life now, but my life isn't quite perfect yet because I'd really love to have a family of my very own, and maybe even a doggy friend or two who are members of my family. I have not given up on humans and am hoping that IMPS and my foster mom can find me my forever family who will commit to always taking good care of me and never abandon me again, especially if I'm sick or injured. I see other dogs going and getting homes like that and I really, really want one too. Are you the home for me? I'm patiently waiting for you to complete an Adoption Application and come and meet me.
