About Laila Desi Dog

Hi! I'm Laila! I am about 3 years old and weigh about 33 lbs. I am a 'Desi Dog' (a local term for 'street dog') from India in search of a home of my own. I lived on the street for a couple of years, but this summer the family that cared for me moved away, and I was left to fend for myself. I was rescued by KAW, a local rescue group in New Delhi, and now I am ready to find a forever home! I arrived in the U.S. on September 9th and I was adopted by a nice family -- but then their child became allergic to me and I was returned. They were very sad to see me go -- they said I was such a good dog! My favorite thing in the world is belly rubs -- if you stop rubbing my belly, I will gently put my paw on your arm to ask for more! And I'm told I have the softest, most beautiful red and white fur. I like to play with my dog toys. I don't mind other dogs I see around the neighborhood, but I like being the center of attention at home, so I'd be happy to be an only dog. I do think that the cat in the house is a toy too, though, so mom says no houses with cats for me. But, I love people, especially children! I walk nicely on a leash (unless I see a squirrel that needs to be chased), like being in my crate, and have been very quiet and fairly low energy. After living on the street, I appreciate long naps in on a comfortable dog bed or sofa! And I have this housetraining thing down too -- no accidents after the first day.
