BANDIT (Purebred Siberian Husky) - AVAILABLE!!!!! Only $95 adoption!!! WE NEED A SPONSOR!!! My adoption profiles tend to be long & very detailed. Please read the ENTIRE Adoption Profile (all the way to the FAQ) so you understand everything about this dog & if you are a good match for him her. This gorgeous boy will light up your life and keep you on your toes! Bandit is a very sweet, loving, affectionate boy who will lean in to you when you pet him. And this outgoing goofy boy wants to play and have fun! He needs an active person & he'd be a great dog to take to the dog park, or do agility. Here is a video of Bandit exploring: https://photos.app.goo.gl/6zrmmYGFHoC6967V9 He has bi-colored eyes. One blue eye and one brown eye. Huskies have a thick double coat and his coat will need to be brushed at least once a week. He enjoys being brushed and the more you do it, the better it is for his skin and coat. So far he has learned Sit, Lay Down, and he comes when called. All of the pets at Safe Haven receive basic training when they come here. All adopters will be given a list of words that your new pet knows at the time of adoption. What each pet learns depends on how much time I have had to work with them, & if that pet has any additional issues that need to be focused on first. The pets here are always improving. Birthday: The Vet guessed it to be 8/22/17, but he looks and acts much younger. Many people ask if he's a puppy... Weight at last Vet visit: He weighed 45 lbs at his last visit, and at that point he had gained some weight and still had more to go. When he first got here, I could feel every part of his spine and hip bones when I pet him. He is filling out well and is getting to the point where I can barely feel them now. So he just needs a little more weight. Cats: I tested him with a dog friendly cat in a wire crate and he was too focused on her and circled the crate. So I would not trust him with cats. Small Dogs: He is friendly and wants to play, but I think he is to rambunctious for a small dog. A lot of them don't like his high energy, and he doesn't listen to their signals when they want him to stop trying to play with them. I think he would be to rough with them when he plays. Unintentional on his part, but it is still a cause for concern. Large Dogs: Yes, he is good with medium & large dogs, but he wants to play, play, play.... So any dog that you currently have would have to be good with that. Some dogs may not like that energy. He has met dogs that did not appreciate his enthusiasm, and they flashed their teeth and lunged at him, and all Bandit did was to try to appease them by rolling on his belly or doing the play bow, but he was still persistent in trying to get them to play. Kids: He is loving, so he would be good with older kids, but he may knock down younger ones. So older kids only please. Men: Sweet, loving and affectionate. Women: Sweet, loving and affectionate. Strangers: Sweet, loving and affectionate. Food: I feed all the dogs on a rotational diet. Which means they get a different brand of high quality food each month. I do this because I do not think that one brand can provide all the nutrients that they need. Just like one food can't provide us with all that we need...Plus, who wants to eat the same thing every day? All dogs are fed breakfast (7 am) & dinner (5 pm), & are fed in their crate with their own bowl. He currently gets 2 cups for breakfast and again for dinner for a total of 4 cups of dry food a day to gain weight. Plus treats. He's a great eater & has eaten everything I have given him. Crate Trained: Yes, he knows the schedule and will usually go in the crate when it's time. Other times I say 'Inside' and he will go in. I give him a treat for doing it. He is let out multiple times throughout the day, and can hold it through the night. He is in a plastic 27' x 40' crate. House Trained: In training. He is using the doggy door. But I often have to coax him to go outside because he wants to stay inside with me. It is apparent the last owner kept him as an outside dog. I can not say for sure if he is completely house trained because he is not out all the time due to having cats here. He has learned the word 'Outside' and will go outside when I say it while pointing outside. Leash Trained: Yes, he gets very excited when he sees me get his harness out and runs to the door ready to go! I do not exercise him enough in order to get all his energy out though, so he can be a bit all over the place and pull on the leash because of it...Huskies are a high energy breed & need at least an hour a day. You can get that through walking, jogging, hiking, the dog park, or doing agility with him. Here is a video of Bandit on a walk. This is on our way home after he has been walking awhile and has gotten his energy out. https://photos.app.goo.gl/KgM9FH88EX6j41Hc8 Car: Yes, he LOVES car rides and will load right up. I have an SUV, and I keep the back seat down for the dog
