About Gypsy

German Shepherd
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving (once comfortable in her environment), we can't help but think of Gypsy. Her smile is shining and maybe just a bit mischievous. Gypsy's foster mom knows it's morning when Gypsy's head comes under the blanket...getting closer and closer..and then a wag and a kiss of love. This curious and really, really smart (as is true to her breed) 1.5 year old, 55 lb Purebred German Shepherd is a truly loving and very loyal best friend! Gypsy is such a great medium size as well..perfect for social neighborhood walks, long hikes along beautiful Colorado trails and shopping along Pearl Street for an urban experience. We picture Gypsy as a best friend to active retirees or a family with older and dog-crazy kids. She'll be such a loyal best friend..so overjoyed to share her love, kisses and good will. There's also no question that Gypsy will be one of the most popular girl on the block. Once comfortable, she loves to engage and just be her entertaining and absolutely gorgeous self. Even though Gypsy is usually up for most activities, she's not pushy or needy. Exercise..perhaps long hikes or snowshoeing, backyard play and mental stimulation that comes from time with her humans is important to any dog to be happy and therefore well-behaved. Gypsy will be a rockstar at positive reinforcement group obedience class. These classes are so important for bonding with family, learning about boundaries and using skills learned at classes to be a well-behaved and well-socialized dog out in the community. It is for all these reasons that we won't consider adopting Gypsy out to a family that doesn't choose professional group training at one of our approved trainers. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force-free trainers in your area. Gypsy will enjoy time with gentle, respectful and a bit older, dog-crazy kids. She's such an easy-going and kind girl that we wouldn't want her tail being pulled or anything but the gentlest of handling. Gypsy derives so much joy from her relationships.. we would love to see her in an active family that loves her dearly. She's a great and very lovable dog that deserves this in her life. Gypsy has the stunning coat that is consistent with her breed. She therefore will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a daily salmon oil supplement is recommended for longevity and hair care) to keep her gorgeous coat cottony-soft, very healthy and matt-free. Gypsy is arriving on transport in mid to late October (we'll update when date is confirmed). Applications are currently being accepted for our magnificent girl. If interested in this very cuddly, kind and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Gypsy, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
