About Max

Max is a 10+ year old neutered male around 8 pounds. Don't let the age fool you; he loves to go for walks and be outside! Max is good with other dogs; he is submissive. We have only had him around dogs, but I don't think he would bother any other animal. Max has NO teeth so he is on a soft diet and will eat just about anything, lol. Max is a awesome, funny little dude and wants attention but does still frighten easily; he doesn't do anything bad, he will just hide. There are a couple of things you have to be willing to deal with if you adopt Max. First, he does go potty outside, but will still mark stuff in the house. He is getting better and we are working on that. Second, we don't know his history, but my guess would be he was physically abused. He will run and hide if you raise your voice or if he see's a fly swatter. When he first came to us, he would shriek if I tried to pick him up and wouldn't sit by us. Now, he loves his rear end scratched and will sit beside us or on the top of the recliner. You will have to win his trust so it will take a litle time. Max does well in a crate, but here he has the run of the house. He could be crated at night with no problem. Max is a cool little dog, always wagging his tail and prancing around. Max is healthy and still has many years left to entertain you. Max needs a soft diet because ALL his teeth were removed. Although Max frightens easily he is good with other dogs and kids. It would be best for Max to be in a quieter home because of his fear. We made him a safe place to go where he will feel safe when he is scared. Loud noises and fly swatter scare him and we do slow movements when we pet him. He isn't a Cuddler yet but will set on the couch by you. Max is potty trained but will still mark his territory sometimes. Although with time it has gotten to be farther in between, we are working on it!! Max rides in a car great, walks on a leash and comes when called. He will need time and a soft voice to get to know you but he is so worth it. If he doesn't get adopted soon he will be staying right here, lol. This little dog is a character for sure and has that tongue hanging out sometimes now!!
