Special Needs: Chloe has Addison's disease and has had her ears surgically closed due to rampant ear infections. What kind of home would be best for me: Chloe's best home will be one that is prepared to love her despite a compromised immune system. Chloe will always be special in many ways. Her new family will understand Addisons or be willing to learn. They will understand that she will be dependent on medication for the rest of her life and be willing to give her that medication. Without it she will die. With it she can have a normal life. Her medication is both pills and a monthly injection. It is an expensive disease to manage. Average cost is approximately $150 per month. Her new family will also understand that there may be other things lurking in Chloe's immune system that don't work well. I think every day with this girl is a gift and you simply enjoy it. What is my personality like: Humble. That is my very best one word summation of Chloe. She is humble. If she were a human, I believe she would be a nun. She would spend her evenings in quiet contemplation and meditation. She would spend her days helping others. She asks for nothing of this world but to be a quiet part of it. I have never heard her bark. I have never seen her lift a lip or growl no matter what we had to do to her to get her healthier than she was. I have never even seen her try to go through a door first. Chloe is humble. How do I act when I first meet new people: Chloe will come into the room and then she will wait for an invitation to greet you. She may look around but she will not be pushy. She will graciously take a quiet spot and wait to be noticed. Tips and Tidbits: Last week for the first time, Chloe joined her foster family on a walk. It is the first time I believe she has felt like walking. She is still very slow so if you enjoy strolling with your dog, Chloe would be a good match. The point is she made the walk and each day she has now joined us she gets a little faster. She will never be a running partner. I don't believe she will ever become rambunctious the way four-year-old standard poodle should be. But she is simple, calm, and very grateful for whatever attention she can get. Chloe would do well as an only dog if you have a lot of time to spend with her and she would also do well with several other corndogs in her home. She's a get along kind of girl. She has been raised with children and while I have not seen her interacting with children, her former family tells me she enjoys their company. House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule
