Adoption Fee: $5
Lab mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Ruegar was found abandoned, neglected, extremely malnourished, and traumatized, by my daughter and I. He along with two other dogs, came out the back door of a house, and followed us home. Concered of their condition I let them, and opened my back gate. They all walked in. I went back to the house they came from, assuming it had been abandoned because my husband and I watched the tenants pack and leave weeks prior to this. I followed a malnourished cat around back and saw the back porch door, and back door wide open. What I saw was one of the saddest things I ever witnessed. 5 or 6 cats were running and and out of cabinets, too afraid to come up to me, while trying to avoid the many many piles of animal feces. It was like a scene from the show 'Animal Cops.' I immediately called the police, as I am pregnant and knew it was unsafe to enter the premises. I was given a case number and the officer turned it over to Animal Control. Animal Control informed me of Euthansia being their fate; I said I didnt want that and he told me to just let them stay in my backyard. I asked about the other cats, and steps were taken to remove them. It has been 3 months, and all of the puppers are happy, well fed, and healthy! Ruegar however still shows signs of fear and axiety when approached from behind especially. He has a heart of gold, is very loving, somewhat trained, so he is submissive and follows commands. He just doesn't have a lot of patience for kids, espcially if they keep grabbing his ears, or if they suddenly approach him from behind. I already have two children, and one on the way! The last thing I want is to take this beautiful soul to any kind of shelter, as I fear a cage will only cause him to regress. I found him when he was at a crossroad, he could have become aggressive, but he didn't. I cannot keep him, as I already have a dog and decided to keep one of the three he came with. I think he is a 'man's dog,' but he needs a gentle and patient, yet dominant individual to nurture and to care for him. He is very bonded with the male dog he came with a Chiuahaha named Smeck, an odd pair, but a great one! I don't expect to house them together, but you never know!! I am 3 weeks away from my due date, and need to place them asap! Thank you so much!!!
