Prince is a very intelligent and energetic guy. Once he gets to know you he is super sweet, loves to please, and to get a lot of belly scratches. Prince came into the rescue in January of this year, when he was about 14 months old, from Kalamazoo County Animal Services. He had been taken there by his original owners because of a deformity or injury of his front legs. The money for his surgery was obtained through fundraising and it has helped him immensely. He does limp a little at times if he has over exerted himself. Prince's ideal home will include an active family that has extensive experience with GSD's, or other large breeds with 'stranger danger'. Basically this means someone dedicated to making sure he has consistent rules and a stimulating routine, hopefully with many fun 'jobs' to do, and that he is given extra time to get to know company that comes over. Prince has a high prey drive so no kitties. Prince has bad dog to dog manners that we hope, in time and with the right training, he can learn to communicate with his fellow canines appropriately. He would benefit greatly with a doggy companion some day but probably isn't best right away. Because of this, we will not adopt Prince out to a home with cats or dogs. With his intelligence and energy, Prince (and his owner) will benefit immensely from obedience and/or vocational training.
