About Blaze

Blaze is about 4 years old and a wonderful affectionate happy dog. He showed up on some property in rural Oklahoma and was taken in by a family but he seemed to like living outside and roaming their property during the day. That was all fine until they moved in town and it wasn't ok for Blaze to roam around the town. He was not contained by a chain link fence and had to be chained for his safety. The family reached out to rescue to try to find Blaze the right home to give him a chance to be the wonderful dog they knew he was. He was fearful at first being in the house but once he learned the routine he settled in nicely. He goes in his crate willingly for a snack and will lay down quietly for the night. He is very birdy and will self-exercise in the yard. He's not much of a barker but will bark occasionally if there is a bird that captures his interest. Since coming into rescue he is working on crate training (he loves to get fed in his crate) and house training. He is a wild child but will settle at your feet if he's had enough of a run. Because he is a wild child, he would be best in a home with children 9 years of age or older. Doors and gates must be securely opened and closed as he would be prone to escape. He is NOT safe with cats. He is doing a great job staying contained in a 6-foot stockade fence and does not appear to be a digger. He is playful and respectful of other dogs 30 pounds and up. He hasn't been tested with dogs that are any smaller than 30 pounds. Blaze needs Blaze knows sit and will do anything for a good treat. He's not super on leash walks yet but not the worst puller in the world. He does come when called in the yard. He is very comical and loves to sit at your feet for brushing. Blaze is very tolerant of baths (he's had a few) and having his nails trimmed. He has medium energy for a Setter and as long as he gets exercise he will settle down in the evenings and enjoy being part of the family. Blaze is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations and tests. He is in a foster home in Edmond, OK.
