About Josie Wales

3yr old black and tan girl, 11-lbs, all-natural tail and ears, up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and on heartworm prevention. Josie is a stunningly gorgeous Minpin with all the quintessential Minpin looks, intelligence and personality! She was rescued as an owner surrender to a local shelter. She clearly came from a home and to our knowledge was not bred. Josie is young and high-strung, regal, sweet and protective. When she bonds to her person, she is very alert to your wishes, responsive and cooperative. She comes on command, going so far as to jump in your arms if you hold them out, walks well on leash, is house- and crate-trained. Josie sounds the alarm over strangers but immediately quiets when you shush, then looks to you to see if she did good. Her favorite place is standing or sitting on your lap, on the look-out. She loves back scratches there and will reward you with gentle kisses, especially in a calm environment. But it takes her a week or so to settle in, with the right handling, and she needs an attentive leader with advanced Minpin experience. Our little 'outlaw' Josie Wales is not for everyone. She can be fiercely protective of home & property, and possessive of her person. She doesn't like strangers or competition from other pets. It takes watchful good leadership tactics to help her be a good citizen. She depends on it and trusts it, for she has also experienced harsh handling when stressed out. An environment without daily commotion will help her thrive. Her regal, deeply intelligent character and personality are so very rewarding!
