About Harvey

Adoption Fee: $100
Black Mouth Cur mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Harvey is an old man trapped in a cur's body. He loves to get his exercise, enjoys his naps & cuddles, and has pretty bad separation anxiety. He's not fond of small children but with supervision he does okay, toddlers and cats are a no go. We have been kenneling him to deal with his separation anxiety and that has been the best solution. He's a destructive chewer when not supervised. Harvey was the victim of a hit and run last year and his hind left leg needed to be re set into his hip causing it to be shorter than the others. I wrote that as hip dysplasia. He's able to run on it for a period but may favor it when he's tired or in the cold. Harvey would do best on a farm (without cats) where he can run around a lot with other farm dogs. He gets along with most every other dog except other aggressively dominant dogs. Which is why I need to rehome him. My pug and him just aren't getting along and I've given it 6 months. As with most pugs, he thinks he's a big dog and he forgets his age when he goes trying to put Harvey into his place. We are Harvey's 3rd home. He was surrendered to the shelter a year ago right around the time of his first birthday. The surrender reason listed was separation anxiety. My neighbor adopted Harvey from the shelter not long after and hired me to watch him during the day. Harvey and his granddaughter did not get along and Harvey was re-surrendered to the shelter. This being Harvey's second surrender I was worried about him and we adopted him. As you can see Harvey has a long list of non desirable qualities but I believe with the right home, and an owner that knew the breed, he would thrive. He's such a sweetheart and he's always down to cuddle. He has to be tucked in when he goes to sleep at night and he's very protective. Being adopted myself, I feel for him but because my pug and him cannot get along I need to find him the next best, and hopefully forever, home. Because Harvey was adopted at the shelter, he needs to be surrendered to the shelter. I would like to line up a new home for him before I surrender him though. I will include all of his bedding, his kennel and what's left of his favorite toys. I will also update his vaccinations.
