Courtesy Posting: NEW MEXICO- 2 STUNNING CREAM PB CHOWS FOUND NEED RESCUE ASAP, OR COULD BE PTS- WHO CAN HELP BEFORE THEY DIE? Two stunning cream purebred chows were found near a highway in the mountains near or in Placitas, which is in central New Mexico (between Albuquerque and Santa Fe). No one has come forward as of yet and they were trapped and taken to the local Animal control holding cage. This area (Sandoval County) does not have a county shelter, it is just this holding area where the dogs were/are brought and have to stay outside. As you can see from these pictures, it is totally exposed to the elements and gets morning sun right now but does have a cover. Temps can be 80 in day, 40 at night. Once the dogs are off the stray hold, they are at great risk to be euthanized quickly as they obviously cannot stay long in this holding cell. They come available on or about 10/1 (10 day holding period). I have been in contact with Jackie who visits this shelter knows people who work there, and made this facebook page to raise awareness (although people cannot comment or tag on it). She also put me in touch with Larry at the shelter (contact below) who would like us to find a rescue to take them in asap. Jackie went today and got us video which will be posted on facebook. If you need to reach Jackie (I have her email, or you can pm her), she has chows herself and can possibly assist to help with some transport and has a local rescue that will assist with spay and neuter if needed. Although the dogs were scared at first, the videos we just got show the dogs being friendly, taking treats nicely, wagging their tails, and even giving kisses on hands through kennel fence. They have not been taken out, so it's unclear if they are neutered, and there's too much fur to see. Is there a rescue that can assist and take these dogs in? They do not adopt out dogs directly from this location but we may be able to put pre-qualified adopters in touch with a local rescue.
